The CLARIS filter cartridge has an extra space at the lower end with natural active ingredients that stabilize the water in the tank, thereby reducing limescale deposits at the bottom of the tank. This happens entirely without any extra energy or intervention, solely through the natural movement of the water in the tank, which allows the water to easily flow through the space. As before, the upper part of the CLARIS filter cartridge for coffee preparation filters precisely the amount of water required for a perfect cup of coffee using ion exchangers and activated carbon in the upflow principle.

RFID technology also detects if a filter is in the automatic coffee machine and automatically activates the correct mode. The coffee machine continuously collects information about filter usage and notifies you when the filter is used up. Thanks to the innovative formula, the filter cartridges are suitable for all tap water worldwide. The effective granulate filters out limescale to a consistently optimal level (even with low water hardness) and reduces the amount of harmful and taste-altering substances such as chlorine better than ever. Minerals, which act as important flavor carriers, are retained. Automatic filter detection
To enable a dialogue between the filter and the automatic coffee machine, JURA uses modern RFID technology. The coffee machine with the Intelligent Water System (I.W.S.®) automatically detects if a filter is inserted and then automatically switches to filter operation and starts rinsing. If the filter's lifespan is nearing its end, the automatic coffee machine notifies you that a filter change is needed. If this is not done, the appliance activates descaling mode. After corresponding use, a descaling prompt is displayed. This, in turn, can only be performed after the filter has been removed. Errors due to misunderstandings are now definitely a thing of the past.

When water is heated, it releases limescale. Pipes clogged by limescale not only lead to longer heating times and thus to higher electricity consumption but can in the worst case cause machine breakdown.
