How to choose espresso coffee
Which roast is best for espresso?
Espresso coffee is usually roasted slightly darker than drip coffee, which provides a fuller body and more toffee/caramel notes that withstand the brewing pressure without becoming thin in flavor.
Whole beans or pre-ground for espresso?
Whole beans are recommended if you have a grinder, as the grind size for espresso is fine and crucial for the result - too coarse a grind produces thin coffee, while too fine makes it bitter. If you do not have a grinder, pre-ground espresso coffee is an easier alternative.
